I live in Tulelake California, home of our nations first waterfowl refuge “Lower Klamath N.W.R.” established in 1908 by Theodore Roosevelt. Along with Tule Lake N.W.R. these two refuges encompass 92,716 acres which support the largest fall and spring migration of waterfowl in North America. This is the “Heart” of the Pacific Flyway. I am one of five waterfowl guides federally permitted to operate on these two refuges.

I am forty years old and started my waterfowling career at the age of thirteen. Growing up in Northern California allowed me to have an incredible opportunity to learn my trade on many public state and federal refuges as well as a variety of private clubs. My passion for waterfowling led me to seek and obtain a degree in wildlife management from Cal State University, Chico. Here I refined my waterfowling skills by hunting the state and federal areas as well as guiding on some of the premeir clubs in the valley. After college I took a job with the California Department of Fish and Game, where I am presently employed as an assistant manager on a forty-seven hundred acre refuge. Working for the state also allows me an incredible amount of time to guide during the winter and pursue my “addiction” waterfowling. I start my seasons in Canada and finish in Northern California.

I am fortunate to live near Ron Latchaw and subsequently have been able to use Final Approach products since the early “slider” days. I can’t see how I would have been so successful without these products. They certainly have made my guiding operation a lot easier.I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting Bill Saunders (at the customs office on a return home trip from Canada)and have been using his calls with great results since the day we met. I am truly blessed to spend one hundred plus days a year following my passion.
