Keene Steadman

Hunting and fishing was a tradition in Keene's family. He grew up fishing on the banks of the Tennessee River and hunting the rolling hills and creek bottoms of North Alabama. Opening day of dove season and rabbit hunting on Thanksgiving Day with his family were days he looked forward to. Keene has fond memories of hunting with his dad, grandfather, uncles and countless cousins. He has been hunting since he was 11 years old. As a teenager, Keene was turned on to archery and bow hunting for deer. He worked in the archery industry for six years.

After moving to North Carolina in 1996, with his wife Amy and two sons Ben and Bailey, Keene was exposed to the wonderful world of water fowling. After his first goose hunt his buddies instructed him on the gear purchases that he would have to make to really enjoy water fowling: waders, calls, and a lanyard to put his calls on. Keene never bought a lanyard he made his own. After a lot of practice he braided a product that he was happy with. He gave lanyards to his hunting buddies to test. In 2008 Keene started a custom braiding company, Honk Monster Outdoors. He makes custom call lanyards, sunglass retainers, dog leads and a lot more products that are used by dog trainers and hunters from the Atlantic coast to Utah. www.honkmonsters.com

Along with a tremendous love of water fowling Keene enjoys working with young people. He has coached baseball off and on since graduating from high school. Keene's latest adventure has been working with a non-profit organization - Hunters Helping Kids. This organization helps get young people that don't otherwise have someone to take them a chance to go hunting and experience the great outdoors. www.huntershelpingkids.com

Keene joined Final Approach in 2009 and believes it is an honor to be part of Final Approach and a privilege to help promote the best waterfowl gear available.
