FA Gear

This season I purchased the following Foiles/Final Approach products:

1 Foiles/F.A. Floating gun case with shoulder strap.
1 Foiles/F.A. Backpack with tree straps.
1 Pro Guide Blind.
1 Dozen Eliminator Shells.
1 Dozen Eliminator Full Body Decoys.
1 Foiles Signature Goose Flag

I realize that this is a small amount of gear compared to a lot of consumers but I have always heard good things about Final Approach products and if Jeff Foiles, Bill Saunders and the rest of the crew put their name on it then it has to be good stuff.

So how does this all play into an experience in the field? Well I have had a bunch of successful hunts this year using all this equipment. I have shot geese, ducks and even many grouse while moose hunting as well. The backpack has been outstanding in every way and 2 of my friends are buying their own this fall.

But by far the most rewarding experience has been with the floating gun case. A couple of weeks ago I was heading out to the marsh for a morning of duck hunting with friends. On the way out of the marsh at the end of the day I was wading through water over my waist when I tripped on a root and went over and under. If you haven't been in the water in Canadian river in December, trust me, it is unbearably cold. My waders were filling up and with nothing to get my balance with I quickly flipped my gun case over my shoulder and used it like a crutch to get back up. Now I was wet, cold and my ankle was twisted and in agony. So my gun case continued on as a crutch for another 1/4 mile out of river and through the swamp back to the truck. I would have had a real tough time hanging on to a gun in a sock like most of my buddies use, but with the shoulder strap wrapped around my wrist and the larger end of the case stuck in the mud, it worked perfectly.

Thanks for the great products, I will continue to buy them and so will my buddies.
